LEAVING
I blinked to clear my vision. The rain fell in gray sheets across the road in front of me. As the daylight faded I found it increasingly hard to see. The temperature was dropping rapidly. The rain on the windshield turned to ice so fast the defroster couldn’t keep up. Even for Saskatchewan it was unseasonably cold for April. I touched the brakes and the van slid sideways so I took my foot off the gas pedal and let the weight of the vehicle slow us down. In the back, my two boys slept on, undisturbed. Across the vast flatlands of the Prairies, the road stretched out before me, empty except for a couple of big rigs making their way west. Even at a slow crawl we soon caught up to them. I pulled the van in behind the second truck, somehow I felt safer with them there.
I followed the trucks and watched in panic as the rain changed to snow. After about twenty painstakingly slow miles, the lead truck turned on his signal and pulled off the highway, the second trucker following him. I let the van cruise to a stop on the highway and watched them with a sense of dismay. Even though I didn’t know them, it felt good to not be alone out there. I sat in the middle of the lane and considered my options. There was no danger of being hit from behind. I had been watching in the rear view mirror ever since we had left the gas station hours ago and no one had appeared. The trucks pulled into a rest stop on the side of the highway where several other trucks were already parked. They came to a stop at the back of three long lines of trucks. The rest stop extended back away from the highway for several hundred yards only to be lost in the white wall of blowing snow.
I knew I should not go on. I was scared we were going to slide off the highway into the ditch and the fear was causing my muscles to clench up painfully. My knees and hands shook. A glance at the back seat showed my boys still asleep. If the van stalled and I couldn’t get it going again, we would all freeze before anyone found us. My legs started to shake violently and my vision blurred from staring into the blowing snow. It seemed like even Mother Nature was against me. Tears threatened but I knew what I had to do. I slowly edged the van in between the lines of trucks.
I sat for a minute staring at the highway in the rear view mirror. I didn’t like the thought of being so exposed. He’d find us for sure. I slowly inched the van between the two rows of trucks, ignoring the drivers who looked down at me curiously as I passed. When I was about half way up the row of trucks, one of them jumped down from his cab and stepped up beside the van. He tapped on the driver’s window. “Hey, lady, you need help?” He was a slender man in his forties with dark hair and kind blue eyes.
I unrolled the window a couple of inches. “I’m okay. I just need a place to park until morning. The road is too slippery to go any further.”
“Yeah, tell me about it. Well, you can park it anywhere,” he answered. I looked in the rear view mirror again. The van was still visible from the highway. “I want to go further back.” I pointed toward the far end of the rest stop. He had seen me look in the mirror and he bent down and looked at me sharply. “Is someone after you?”
I paused, trying to think of what to say. Before I could find any words, my tears overflowed and a sob escaped.
“Whoa now, don’t do that!” he exclaimed. “I’ll guide you back there if that’s what you want. But no tears—I can’t handle a crying woman.”
I took a deep breath and blinked away the tears then followed as he guided me through the maze of trucks. Finally, I was satisfied that the van couldn’t be seen from the highway. I was glad that I had stopped and filled the gas tank before leaving Regina because I was going to have to keep the engine running most of the night. I could hear the big rigs around us, the rumble of the powerful diesel engines loud through the howl of the wind.
“There you go,” he said when he came back to my window. “You’re safe now.” He hesitated, rubbing his chin with the back of his hand. “Are you alone?”
“No, my children are sleeping in back,” I answered.
“You got babies in there? You’re going to freeze out here. These vans aren’t built for camping out in Saskatchewan at this time of year. There’s no insulation.” He sputtered with indignation.
“We’ll be okay. I’ll start the engine to keep us warm,” I shot back defensively. I could see the look in his eyes – he was thinking that I was a real stupid tourist. I felt my eyes fill again with tears.
“Aw, shucks, lady. You’ll be up all night!” He looked very worried as I wiped the tears away. I also noticed that he was checking me out. I’d looked better. My eyes were sore and when I glanced in the mirror I could see the dark circles under them. They looked huge in my deathly white face. I knew that anyone could see that I had been crying – a lot.
“I’m sure we’ll be fine,” I assured him with more confidence than I felt. I just wanted him to leave so I could check on the boys.
“Now look, you can’t stay here. You and your kiddies are in danger of freezing. I’ve got a big sleeper on my truck and it’s insulated and warm. You just bring them both over there. You can all spend the night with me. And it’s nice and clean.”
I stammered. “No, really, I couldn’t do that!”
He looked at me sharply. “You can’t stay here all night, you’ll freeze to death. And I don’t want to wake up in the morning and find you all dead. Ain’t your kids important to you?” He sounded more incredulous than angry.
“Of course they are!” I exclaimed. “I’ll do anything to protect them.”
He nodded. “Yeah, I thought so.” He was now boldly staring at me. I sat and stared out the windshield for a full minute. I had been married for seven years and never considered cheating, not once. But now I knew that I was going to. And I was going to enjoy doing it. I knew without a doubt what this man wanted and I felt myself responding to his need. And really, could I put my children in any more danger than I already had? I turned to him and nodded.
“Okay, but just so my boys are safe.”
I turned and scrambled into the back. I opened the side door and the trucker picked up my five year old, Jesse, still wrapped in his sleeping bag and sound asleep. He waited for me to pick up the baby, Sam. He led me to a big black truck parked halfway back to the highway. As we walked he glanced at me and cleared his throat.
“Sorry, I should have introduced myself before now. I’m John Turner.”
“I’m Judy Mitchell, and these are my sons, Jesse and Sam.”
“Where you headed?” he asked.
“We’re on our way home. We live in North Vancouver, at the coast.”
“My god, what are you doing way out here?”
I bit my lip and fought back the tears that threatened yet again. “We were at a wedding in Regina.”
“We? So you didn’t come out here on your own. You mean you and your husband don’t you?” He asked pointedly.
“Yes.” By now we were beside his truck, he stepped
up and opened the passenger door.
“Just wait a sec while I put this one down, then I’ll take the baby from you.”
The sleeper compartment was equipped with bunk-beds. He put the boys on the upper bunk, neither one even stirred. They were both snuggled into their sleeping bags, sound asleep. John touched my arm and pointed to the cab of the truck.
I sat in the passenger seat and he slid in behind the wheel. I was amazed at how much warmer it was than in my Chevy van.
He looked over at me. “Would you like a drink? Or maybe some coffee? I’ve got a thermos full of the stuff. I’ve got sugar too, but no cream. Maybe a shot of whiskey in it will help?”
I looked down at my hands. Help what? I wasn’t that cold, and then suddenly I knew what he meant. I glanced at him sharply and saw the gentle smile. Did it really show that much? I knew I was nervous but until now I thought I had hidden it well.
“Yes thanks, coffee would be nice.”
He handed me a mug and half filled it with coffee from the thermos. Then he topped it up with a very generous amount of whiskey. It smelled wonderful and I held the cup in both hands and breathed in the fumes as the steam rose around my face. I heaped in a couple spoons of sugar as it looked terribly strong. I sipped and immediately wondered if it was going to go down. The warm liquid hit the lump in my throat and stopped. The lump had been there now for hours, ever since I caught my husband with his sister’s maid of honour. I swallowed hard and forced the coffee down, pushing the memory aside. There was an instant sensation of warmth as the whiskey spread through my stomach.
He watched as I struggled to keep my composure. “What happened to your husband? Was there an accident?”
“No accident.” I said quietly. Suddenly, the need to cry disappeared and was replaced by a deep anger. I felt cold all over and took another sip before answering, realizing as I did that the lump had melted as well. “He cheated on me with his sister’s maid of honour. Right in front of me and his whole family. I left him.”
JOHN
He put his big hand on my shoulder. “Bloody fool!” he exclaimed. “You deserve a lot better than that.” He caressed my shoulder gently. “He must be blind. You’re one hell of a good looking woman.”
“What? No, I’m not.” I blushed at his words. It felt so strange having another man looking at me like that and saying things to me like that, not that Brad ever said anything remotely complimentary.
When I got married, I believed that it was forever, that I would never know another man. And I thought I was fine with that, at least until a couple days ago. I slumped. “I just have to get back home. And keep my kids safe. I’ll do anything to keep them safe.”
I looked up and saw his puzzled smile. “So, is this just to keep them warm for the night?
Nothing else?”
I swallowed and ducked my head. “No, it’s much more than that,” I whispered. He chuckled. “Well, I do like a nice warm woman in my bed. But she has to be completely willing. I don’t like anything kinky, just good vigorous sex.”
I was still looking at him. I nodded. “I am completely willing and that sounds real good to me,” I said softly. And it did. For some reason I was more turned on more than I could ever remember.
He was watching me closely. “You’ve never been with another man, have you? I mean since you got married.”
I shook my head. “No I haven’t. I always thought it was important to be faithful, now I don’t have anyone to be faithful to,” I finished sadly.
“And you need a man to hold you and make love to you tonight. Don’t you?”
I swallowed and nodded. I acknowledged that he was probably right. I really needed to know if I was still desirable.
He reached out and ran his fingers down my cheek and neck and then pulled my hair loose from its pony tail and let it run through his fingers. He moved over beside me and lifted me up and slid into the seat and then pulled me down on his lap. He tipped my chin up and kissed me gently.
He had a wide sensuous mouth and I was still for a minute and then relaxed and responded to his kiss. He had a nice smell and his mouth felt so good on mine. I parted my lips on his and he intensified the kiss. I felt his heart starting to pound against my arm. I pulled back a bit and slipped my arms around his neck. He pulled me back against him, now my full breasts were crushed against his hard muscular chest.
His mouth sought mine again and I met him halfway. As soon as his lips touched mine, I opened my mouth and touched his lips with the tip of my tongue. He groaned and tightened his arms around me. Then his tongue was pressing against mine, forcing it back into my mouth. I sparred with him for a few moments until I felt him starting to tremble and then I let him in. His tongue was big and demanding as it probed the deepest recesses of my mouth. I felt a shudder run through me and then I was whimpering against his mouth as his hands ran over my body and slipped inside my jacket to cup my breast. He lifted his head and looked at me with lust-filled eyes.
“Will you come to bed with me?” he asked huskily.
I reached up and kissed him softly. “Yes. Yes I will.”
He released me and I moved into the sleeper and quickly checked my boys. They were both sound asleep. I had no fear of them waking; they both could sleep through anything. He followed me and sat on the bottom bunk. I stood in front of him and removed every piece of my clothing. For some reason, I didn’t feel shy or reluctant now. I desperately wanted this man to see me naked. I wanted to see his reaction. I needed to know if I was attractive. He sat quietly, watching me undress. I heard his breath catch when I bent over to remove my panties. “Holy shit! You are one beautiful woman,” he whispered reverently. I could hear the tremor in his voice. I looked up and smiled at him. The few extra pounds I was packing didn’t seem to detract from my sex appeal.
I sat down and motioned for him to stand up. “Your turn,” I said. He grinned and then took off all his clothes while I watched. He was much bigger than my husband—soon-to-be-ex-husband—I corrected myself. He looked very slender without a spare pound on his muscular frame. He was tall and broad through the shoulders and when he kicked off his jockeys I saw that he was bigger there as well. Much bigger. I felt a pleasant tremor in my belly as he moved to sit beside me.
He gently pushed me down onto my back. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him down on top of me. I spread my legs and he slid between them. He stopped and kissed me again. “I would love to take all night with you, but first I need to relieve some pressure here. Do I need to use a condom? Or are you on the pill?”
I was trembling in anticipation. “I’m on the pill. I hate condoms. And I’m in a bit of a hurry, too.” I finished on a whisper as I wrapped my legs around his waist and raised my hips to receive him.
He gasped at my move and then I felt his cock pressing against my opening. It felt huge. I wondered briefly what we would do if it wouldn’t go in and then suddenly he was inside me. Oh man! That felt good! I gasped and clung to his shoulders. “Oh, yes! Oh, that feels so good!” I murmured against his neck.
“Yeah, it sure does,” he answered. He started to slowly rotate his hips and I rose to meet his every move.
He picked up the pace and I gasped out. “Yes, more! Oh, I like that!”
He grunted and picked up the pace more. We were moving together like a well-oiled machine—in perfect sync. I was amazed at the sensation his huge cock was creating. It felt so good! I gripped him tighter with my legs. “Deeper, go deeper,” I begged. He grunted and thrust deeper inside me. I felt his marvellous cock touch the end of my deep well.
“Oh, baby, you’re real deep. I like that!” he gasped.
“Oh, so do I! Please don’t stop,” I moaned.
He chuckled. “I couldn’t stop fucking you even if I wanted to. And I sure don’t want to.”
He swung his legs over the side of the bunk, taking me with him. He drew me up to sit on his cock with my legs still wrapped around him. I clung to his shoulders while he stroked my
body with his big hands and thrust again and again inside me. He tipped my head up to his and kissed me deeply. It felt utterly amazing.
My orgasm rolled over me—it was the biggest orgasm I had ever had! He kept me at my peak for what seemed like a very long time and then he lowered me again and started to thrust hard and fast. I opened myself to him completely, totally relaxed. I picked up his rhythm and matched his moves. I opened my eyes and watched him. He was no longer aware of me, lost in his passion. I increased the pace and he followed me. I wanted very much to satisfy him. He started gasping and grunting.
I reached up and dug my fingers into his back. “Yes, come in me! Come in me now!” I demanded.
He did. With a loud groan he found his release and I felt his sperm spray hot inside. His cock continued to jerk as he slowly collapsed on top of me. We lay like that for a few minutes, just enjoying the afterglow while our breathing slowed and our hearts resumed their normal pace. When he finally pulled his now soft cock out of me, I felt empty. I wanted him to fill me again. We lay looking at each other and then I reached out and kissed him.
“Thank you. That was really wonderful,” I whispered.
He smiled and stroked my back. “Give me a minute. I want more of that.”
I returned his smile. “Good, so do I.”
We fucked and explored each other all night. I didn’t fall asleep until the sky was turning pink with the coming dawn. He slept beside me, holding me close and keeping me warm. He woke me a couple hours later, kissing me awake, and smiled down at me. “Your kids are stirring and it’s time to get up and get going.”
I stroked his face with my hand. “Thank you for a wonderful night,” I whispered.
“Better than sleeping in a cold van was it?” he teased.
I laughed. “Oh, yeah, it sure was!”
He kissed me again and then we scrambled into our clothes. Sam was awake and lay there watching us. John pulled on his boots and climbed back up front. I thought it must be around seven in the morning. I shook Jesse awake, and was suddenly aware that I had nothing to feed them for breakfast. I hadn’t thought about food last night at all. Again, John came to my rescue. He pulled out a box from under his seat. “Let’s see what goodies we’ve got that your boys will like.” He pulled out bread and cheese and a bag of homemade cookies. “I buy them at a bakery in a little town outside Winnipeg.” He grinned at my expression. “No, I’m not married.” He turned back to the box. “Well, I don’t have any milk for you, but you’re welcome to some of the bread, cheese and cookies.”
